Cartoon Forest

1.Stylized Low Poly Vegetation Set:

A collection of optimized, cartoon-style 3D assets designed for games and stylized environments. This set includes a variety of trees, grass, flowers, and diverse plant species, all featuring clean topology and vibrant, hand-painted colors.

Project Overview

  • Style: Cartoon / Stylized Low Poly

  • Assets Created: Trees, grass, flowers, and varied foliage

  • Target: Real-time environments and video games

Key Features

  • Optimization: Low polygon count tailored for smooth performance.

  • Art Direction: Vibrant color palettes and soft shapes to capture a friendly, whimsical cartoon aesthetic.

  • Versatility: Modular assets designed for easy environment dressing and scattering.

2.Dynamic Texturing & Color Variation:

  • Procedural Variation: Utilized the Shader Editor to build a smart, reusable material.

  • Object Info Node: Applied the Random output to drive subtle color shifts for every asset copy.

  • Efficiency: Achieved high visual diversity across trees and foliage while keeping a single material slot.

  • Performance: Reduced texture memory overhead, making the assets highly optimized for real-time engines.

3.Environment & Lighting Setup:
  • World Shader Editor: Customized the global environment to match the stylized art direction.

  • Sky Texture Node: Generated a clean procedural sky background for natural illumination.

  • RGB Curves Control: Tweaked color channels directly to achieve specific cartoon color palettes for the horizon and zenith.

  • Cohesive Atmosphere: Unified the lighting conditions to make the low-poly vegetation pop.

  • Procedural Clouds: Utilized a Noise Texture node to generate soft, stylized cloud patterns.

4.Terrain & Environment Creation:
  • Mesh Modeling: Subdivided a base plane to ensure enough geometry for smooth deformation.

  • Displace Modifier: Shaped the main topography and hills using a displacement modifier for clean, low-poly curves.

  • Procedural Shading: Blended multiple Noise Textures via the Shader Editor to break up flat surfaces.

  • Color Ramps Integration: Used color ramps to control the blending of cartoon-style ground tones across the landscape.

5.Procedural Asset Scattering:

  • Geometry Nodes Workflow: Designed a flexible, non-destructive scattering system for the vegetation.

  • Core Node Setup: Leveraged Distribute Points on Faces and Instance on Points to scatter the asset collections.

  • Natural Randomization: Used Collection Info alongside Random Value nodes to randomize the scale and rotation of each clone, preventing repetitive patterns.

  • Artistic Control: Connected a Weight Paint vertex group to the density input, allowing precise, hand-painted control over asset placement.

6.Final Composition & Video Post-Production:

  • Volumetric Atmosphere: Added a Principled Volume node with low density to create a soft, stylized fog that introduces depth.

  • Linear Camera Movement: Animated the camera path using the Graph Editor and motion modifiers to secure a smooth, consistent sweep.

  • Dynamic Depth of Field: Linked the camera focus to a Plain Axis empty, animating its position to shift focus dynamically across the scenery.

  • Rendering & Sound Design: Rendered the final 3D sequence and executed the video editing phase, integrating immersive ambient sounds to bring the environment to life.
